The Mankala Residence, completed in 2007, is built on a 60 ft by 40 ft city plot and unfolds over three levels. This bright home includes a self-contained two-bedroom unit on the ground floor and a spacious three-bedroom dwelling beginning on the first floor (elevated 9 feet above ground). The house’s design and fenestration are oriented to the north, offering views of the lush greenery beyond the residential colony.

At the heart of the home lies an 18-foot-high dining space, conceived as an 'inner court' around which the multi-level interior spaces are organized. The structure showcases an eclectic mix of load-bearing concrete blocks, terracotta blocks, and filler slab roofs, anchored by a singular exposed RCC column. Much of the exterior and select interior walls are left unplastered, revealing the raw texture of terracotta and concrete and lending an authentic, earthy vibe to the residence. The result is a home that feels organic and warm, embracing simplicity in its material palette while providing comfort and connection to its surroundings.
